Football Schedule Update

From MNU President David Spittal: MNU has announced that the Pioneer Football Stadium will not be utilized for the four scheduled home games of the 2012 fall season. Safety concerns prompted the University to retain structural engineering consultants who, after inspection, have advised that use of the 30-year-old grandstands must be discontinued.

Arrangements for the demolition and removal of the current structures will soon be underway along with planning for the construction of new replacement facilities. In addition to the replacement of spectator grandstands and support facilities, the renovation of the track and field complex will also be considered. The new facilities will be planned contingent upon availability of funding and the potential of donor support.

Although we did not anticipate this issue, the safety of our students and guests is of primary importance to us. We will use this as an opportunity to make needed improvements to our facilities and consider our future expansion needs at the same time. What may seem as a negative issue I am confident God will work for the good of MNU.

We are reviewing alternative locations for the four home games scheduled for this fall and will make an announcement as soon as plans are complete.
