The Pioneers bounced back from their Game 1 loss with an 8-0 mercy-rule victory over SUNY-Canton on Friday. The Pioneers got the scoring started in the third when
Leslie Jones reached on an error with one out. After a flyout and a stolen base, Jones scored on a
Keeley Ray single. Jen Costa followed with an RBI single and scored the 3rd run on a
Taylor Ryal double to center. The Pioneers blew the game open in the fifth with 5 runs on 4 hits and an error to go up 8-0, and held SUNY in the bottom of the inning to even their pool play record.
Kayla Harris scattered 5 hits in 4 innings for her 13th victory of the season. And
Keeley Ray (3-3, 2 R, RBI), Jen Costa (1-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, SF),
Taylor Ryal (2-3, 2B, RBI),
Alexis Folkerts (2-3, R), and
Lynsey Keith (2-3, 2 2B, RBI) led the offense.
The Pioneers are 39-11. The next game is Saturday vs. #1 California Baptist (61-3) at 6:00 PM.
