Pioneers No-Hit in Tourney Opener
team
The Pioneers lost 2-0 to #10 Shorter College in the first game of pool play at the NAIA National Softball Tournament in Decatur, Alabama on Thursday. Shorter's pitcher, Libby Munson, allowed no runs on no hits in a complete-game shutout. The Pioneers managed just one baserunner in the first 6 innings while Shorter scratched across single runs in the third and sixth innings. MNU threatened in the top of the seventh with 2 walks and a hit batsmen as they loaded the bases with 2 outs. But they couldn't find that clutch hit and fell to the Hawks 2-0.

The Pioneers will play #7 Point Loma Nazarene on Friday at noon. MNU will need to win their next two games and hope for help if they want to advance out of pool play to the double elimination portion of the tournament after the weekend.
