Three Pioneers scored in double figures on Wednesday, but it was not enough as William Jewell beat MNU 85-69 in the HAAC conference tournament. Jewell got off to a hot start and led the Pioneers by 8 points after 9 minutes. The next 90 seconds was all MNU. Bryce Anderson started the run with a basket in the paint while getting fouled. The free throw was missed but Andrew Crotty pulled down the rebound and Rustin Dowd nailed a 3-pointer. After a Jewell turnover, Lukas Weigel was fouled on a layup and made the free throw, tying the game and completing an 8-0 run. Jewell built the lead back to 7 at halftime, and the Pioneers could never get closer. The second half was all Jewell as they maintained a double-digit lead for the final 17 minutes of the game.
In his final game as a Pioneer, Brenton Bell played all 40 minutes and had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Rustin Dowd had 19 points and 3 steals. And Lukas Weigel scored 15 off the bench.
MNU ends the season with an 18-13 record.
