Coach Olin Announces Retirement
olin
MNU Women's Basketball Coach, Bill Olin announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2010 season. Coach Olin is nearing the end of his 11th year at MNU and 30th overall. He began his coaching career at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where he was 261-247 and was a 3-time District Coach of the Year.

At MNU, Coach Olin took a program which previously had just 5 winning seasons and turned it into a perennial 20-win per year program. Starting with the 2001-02 season, Olin’s teams won at least 20 games 7 of 8 seasons; including a 33-4 record, a Conference Title, and a trip to the NAIA D2 Final Four in 2006-07. The Pioneers participated in the NAIA National Tournament 4 times in Olin’s tenure. In his 10 years at MNU, Olin amassed a 222-108 record.

“Coach Olin is one of the finest gentleman coaches in the country,” says MNU Director of Athletics Kevin Steele. “His record only shows a glimpse of the Godly impact he has made in countless young ladies’ lives throughout his career. The coaching profession and MNU will miss his excellent leadership and wise counsel. We wish him well as he and Barbara move on to the next stage of their beautiful lives.”

A nationwide search for Coach Olin's successor will begin immediately. MNU hopes to name the next women's basketball coach shortly after the end of this season.

“It’s been a pleasure and a joy to coach the MNU ladies for the past eleven years,” says Coach Olin. “But after 30 years of coaching intercollegiate women’s basketball, I have realized it’s time to close this chapter of my life. No regrets.”

Olin is currently 492-363 overall. The 09-10 Pioneers are 9-8 and need to win 8 of the final 13 games for him to reach 500 career wins.
